Top 10 Movies of 2014

Now that all the final slew of movies have arrived for the year 2014, it’s time to look back over the year in movies. Here’s my Top 10 Movies of the Year:

10) The Babadook:

The Babadook (2014) on IMDb It also increases the blood pressure lowering cialis generic viagra discover address now effects of nitrates, e.g. isosorbide dinitrate (Isordil), isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, Ismo, Monoket), nitroglycerin such as Nitro-Dur, Transderm-Nitro.* Evade the extreme intake of Kamagra should be done 1 hour prior to any sexual activity.* It can be taken with grapefruit and alcohol as it can increase the issues.Tadalafil Softgel Capsule is not a regular medication as that of diabetes or. The Babadook was one of the surprising movie of this entire year. It’s an Australian film directed by first time director, Jennifer Kent. It all starts with the mother reading her son a story from a book called Mr. Babadook, a scary monster tale. From that moment on this is one of the scariest and deeply affecting movies I have seen in years. And it is not even a monster movie. What this movie is, it’s a very dark look at depression and grief. It’s a very smart movie with deep dark concepts that makes you wonder. If you look deeper under the surface of the plot, you are going to see a lot more depth. This is a well-acted and directed film of the year.

9) Need for Speed:

 Need for Speed (2014) on IMDb 132 min – Action | Crime | Drama – 14 March 2014

Another hope for video game to movie adaptation. And it doesn’t disappoint. Aaron Paul plays this humble racer who goes against this rich dude well played by Dominic Cooper. I am a huge Braking Bad fan and it was surprising that I didn’t see Jessie at all in this movie. He proves that he is a solid actor. The car scenes in this movie are practical no CGI. There so many awesome chase sequences that keeps you on the edge and are all done very well. But the letdown are those big stupid sequence where they try to bend logic. And it screws the whole practical effects thing. If you can ignore physics and few dumb plot points, this is definitely a great adrenaline pumping car racing movie. And Linkin Park’s Road Untraveled fits perfectly in this movie.

8) NightCrawler:

 Nightcrawler (2014) on IMDb 117 min – Crime | Drama | Thriller – 31 October 2014

Jake Gyllenhaal’s best acting in his career so far. He is not even on the screen. Instead you see a weird creep who want to be the best at what he does. And he would do just about anything to get there. You see his character evolve in this movie. You just hate what he does and it keeps you on the edge at the same time.

7) Gone Girl:

 Gone Girl (2014) on IMDb 149 min – Drama | Mystery | Thriller – 3 October 2014

Gone Girl was the type of investigative, who done it type of movie that I enjoy watching because it takes you along with it. You are not smarter than the cops and people in it, you just follow the evidence along with the characters. And it keeps you on the edge guessing. It is difficult to find flaws in this movie. Ben Affleck was the perfect choice for this role because he was able to inhabit a person who understands what it’s like to be haunted by the media.

6) Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) on IMDb 136 min – Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi – 4 April 2014 (USA)

Winter soldier is one of the top tier Marvel movie at this point. This movie got everything right. They made Captain America badass. You have this antitrust thing with Shield. Nick Fury‘s car chase with one window compromised is accelerating. Winter Soldier seemed unstoppable. It’s an intriguing spy–espionage thriller. The pacing was right. And the ending just left me wondering how epic Civil War is going to be.

5) X-Men: Days of Future Past:

 X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) on IMDb 131 min – Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi – 23 May 2014

This was the movie that the X-Men franchise needed to get it back on track. To right all the wrongs by the past movies. And the movie did just that. A trip back in time to fix all the flaws. You have the old cast and you have the new cast. You literally have best of both worlds in this movie. It has the biggest ensemble yet in the franchise. If you can ignore the questions like why Professor X is still alive and in his body or how did Wolverine get his Adamentium claws back instead of bone claws, it’s almost a perfect movie.

4) Interstellar:

 Interstellar (2014) on IMDb 169 min – Adventure | Sci-Fi – 7 November 2014

Interstellar is a visual spectacle. This movie is meant for the IMAX. The reason I liked this movie is because it was not just a sci-fi Nolan movie. It was more than that. The relationship between Cooper and Murph is so well played out. I do recon that the plot holes in this film are maddening. It makes me wonder if Professor Brand (Michael Caine) is an idiot at times. But I thought the ending scene, which a lot people thought it was brief, was just perfect to me. I can’t say much without spoiling the plot.

3) Guardians of the Galaxy:

 Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) on IMDb 121 min – Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi – 1 August 2014

GotG was such an entertaining movie of the year. It was so funny and action packed with great characters. Everything about the tone of the movie was a deviation from Marvels previous entertainment. It was refreshing to see that not all comic book movies have to be dark and gritty to be successful. I never knew the comic or what a Rocket Raccoon was! But Bradley Cooper did an amazing VO. He is easily one my favorite characters in the movie. And the soundtrack is so good and it perfectly matches the movies atmosphere.

2) John Wick:

 John Wick (2014) on IMDb 101 min – Action | Thriller – 24 October 2014

Keanu Reeves is back! He’s kicking a ton of ass in an awesome character. This is an action flick directed by veteran stuntman Chad Stahelski who has been working with Keanu since The Matrix. The 10mins nightclub scene is just Keanu being a total badass! I am a sucker for guns and hitmans . And John Wick has some of the best arsenals at his disposal. H&K P30L with a compensator, those amazing headshots with short barreled Coharie Arms CA-415 and that total awesome Kel-Tec KSG shotgun just blew me away. Keanu knows his guns. And the soundtracks are perfect. I love the surreal world building of this movie and hope it gets a franchise.

1) Edge of Tomorrow:

 Edge of Tomorrow (2014) on IMDb 113 min – Action | Sci-Fi – 6 June 2014

This was one of the biggest surprises of the year and a very welcomed one. Edge of Tomorrow was awesome! It was so much better than what everyone thought it was going to be. Even though it did not make enough money in the box office, I personally loved this movie. This is a sci-fi, action movie filled with dark humor. Emily Blunt was soooo good as this badass chick. It was a change to see Tom Cruise starting up as a coward then becoming this weapon himself. And the ending doesn’t disappoint either.
